1978 Dodge Lineup Brochure |
 |
The cover included this Diplomat 2-door in the lower right corner. |
 |
Bottom of page 2 features this sharp Diplomat
2-door. |
 |
Bottom of page 3 shows interior of the
2-door, lists the high points of the model, and shows profiles of the
4-door and wagon. |
1985 Dodge Lineup Brochure |
 |
By 1985 it was apparent that either the
Diplomat would have a limited life span or it would need some serious
image updating. The dreaded "traditional" was the first
word used in the description. The top photo shows the Nightwatch
Blue Diplomat SE with a retired couple, in a setting that belittles the
Diplomat's history. The SE is so sallied up that were it not for the
gun-sight grille and sloped rear window, you'd mistake it for a Chrysler
Fifth Avenue. |
1987 Dodge Lineup Brochure |
 |
The road to the Diplomat's exit from the
lineup was reinforced by its minimal half-page showing in the 1987 lineup
brochure, flanked all around by K cars Lancer, 600 and Aries. It
could have been worse - the Diplomat had been omitted from the 1984 lineup
document. More ramblings about tradition with this listing, too. |
