My friend Rick Mistron felt some inspiration when he heard that Farley was going to be equipped with red lights and siren for Fire Department use. He modified the lyrics from the theme of Speed Racer and forwarded his songwriting prose to me. I thought it was too good to go unappreciated. Click here to listen to the real Speed Racer theme (1.1MB MP3), and try to dub in Rick's Lyrics.
Here he comes.
Here comes Farley.
He's an angel on wheels.
He's an angel and he's gonna be chasin' after someone.
He's gaining on you so you better look alive.
He's racin' down the street hopin' to save lives.
And when the odds are against him and there's dangerous work.
You bet your life that Farley will see it through.
Go Farley! Go Farley! Go Farley, Gooooo!
He's off at Code 3 as he guns the car to the big wreck
He's jamming down the pedal like and responding so direct *
The rescue's waiting just aheeeeeeeeaaaaad
Go Farley! Go Farley! Go Farley, Gooooo!
Rick's interpretation of Farley as a Koosh Ball.
* NOTE:
I am a responsible driver when en route to fire and emergency scenes. In fact, about half the time I don't use lights or siren, as the problems they can create are not an acceptable trade-off for the necessary expedience of our emergency services. I don't want to die early, and no one else should be hurt or ever put at risk when the purpose of our function as a Fire/Rescue organization is to first do no harm. I am confident that this philosophy reflects the intent of our entire Department.
